Mimi and Oliver grow up in a small town on the Havel River in the 1980s and 90s. They are neighbors and fishing enthusiasts, play soccer together, take the pioneer oath and secretly get drunk at family parties with their parents’ schnapps cherries. The fall of the Berlin wall also severs their friendship. Mimi sees himself as the last pioneer, Timur without a posse. Under the fight name Hitler, Oliver becomes one of the ringleaders of marauding youth gangs. In no time at all, his people put roads and spaces under their control. Then the situation gets completely out of hand. With documentary precision, Manja Präkels describes growing up in the GDR, the harbingers of the turnaround as well as its consequences.
