Marcia Zuckermann was born in East Berlin in 1947. Her Jewish father survived the Holocaust as a political prisoner in Buchenwald concentration camp, her mother was active in the resistance as a Communist. In 1958, the family was forced to leave the GDR as dissidents. In West Berlin, Zuckermann trained to be an advertising specialist in the publication industry and went on to co-found and manage a Berlin journal. She lives in Berlin as a freelance journalist and author.
