Klaus Baumgart, born 1951, is one of the most successful picture book artists worldwide with more than 10 million copies sold. The award-winning graphic designer has received countless international awards and recognitions. In 1999 he was the first German author to be nominated for the English “Children’s Book Award”. His works include not only “Laura’s Star”, but also the picture book “The Little Dream Mixer”, the ghost story “Elli – Monstrously Secret” as well as two picture books created in collaboration with Til Schweiger, “Rabbit without Ears” and “Two-Eared Hatchling”. In addition to his work as a picture book author, Klaus Baumgart teaches at the HTW Berlin in the department of communications design. He lives with his wife and his dog Barny near Berlin.
